I’m looking all around everywhere I go for the guy walking ‘round in my shoes Cause I can’t seem to find myself anywhere and I’m not sure what to do I get up every morning and I look into the mirror but there’s somebody else looking back I used to know that face a long time ago but now there’s something that it lacks (Chorus) I just wanna be me I just wanna be me Now I know we’ve all got a ghost or two among the skeletons buried in the closet But it seems there’s more than that missing in me and I’d like to know who’s got it It seems there’s always somebody trying to tell me how to live my life Don’t they see their really not talking to me but to that stranger lurking inside (Chorus) (Bridge) I don’t know what I’m meant to do Or who I’m supposed to be The only thing I know for sure is I … I’m looking all around everywhere I go for the guy walking ‘round in my shoes Cause I can’t seem to find myself anywhere and I’m not sure what to do (Chorus)

Dreamer, living in his own world Where everything is so surreal And that's the way he likes it Dreamer, loves imaginary girls He buys them all diamonds and pearls And that's the way they like it Everyday is sunday afternoon Sunday afternoon, once a week is not enough It's over too soon, when monday comes you Hear the alarm but can't get up You turn if off when the going gets tough Dreamer, lives his own reality To be who he wants to be and that's the way he likes it Dreamer, now he's finally found his queen And her life's become a dream And that's the way she likes it Everyday is sunday afternoon Sunday afternoon, the sun is shining in the sky If they only knew, that Marilyn Monroe was lying at your side All you had to do was close your eyes Dreamer, living in his own world Where everything is so surreal And that's the way he likes it Dreamer, loves imaginary girls He buys them all diamonds and pearls And that's the way they like it Everyday is sunday afternoon Everyday is sunday afternoon

I’m hanging on the corner with the local boys Laughing and joking, making all this noise Cracking open a beer, I bum a cigarette I think I’d better warn you I’m taking all bets On winter coming early, I can feel it in my bones The fall has come and gone and left us out in the cold Now the bookies are posting odds on us today How many will make it ... (Chorus) I never thought I’d end up this way No, no, no I never thought I'd end up this way Now I’m way down here inside my cardboard box Oh what I wouldn’t give for just one pair of socks That were not so holy that they brought me to my knees Believe me I’m not praying, I’m begging you please Send down another beer or one more cigarette You call it charity I call it my last request For a chance at happiness today You gotta believe me ... (Chorus) It was never meant to be this way No, no, no It was never meant to be this way Way down at the end of this abandoned street That’s me walking ‘round with no shoes on my feet Sometimes it feels like winter twelve months a year When you’re so isolated nobody comes near And far, far away in that black limousine There’s a new world king and his society queen I watch the lights change as they slowly pull away And I’m thinking to myself ... (Chorus) I never thought I’d end up this way No, no, no I never thought I'd end up this way

I’m in the money now he says A million dollars on my head I saw my picture yesterday I’m really wanted so they say I’ve never been this loved before Mother always said I was no good That I would never amount to much Now look at me I’m on TV Bet mother’s really proud of me I’ve never been this loved before (Bridge) Never felt so good Never been so loved Now I’m wanted everywhere Even on a “Current Affair” They say I killed an innocent man I’d like to shake that newsman’s hand Cause everybody knows my name I’ve got my fifteen minutes of fame I’ve never been this loved before
5.
I’m standing on the corner looking up at your window Cause I know what goes on when you turn the lights down that low It was me not too long ago I got my suitcase in my hand but I can’t bring myself to leave You said its best for all involved but don’t you think I know what’s best for me Oh baby can’t you see (Chorus) I don’t want to be just anybody’s hero I don’t want to be just anybody’s fool Now I’m standing in the station with a ticket that you bought me Just a trial separation, you said, “Give it a month and then we’ll see” But don’t you think I know what that means Now the man on the PA calls the bus to Chicago You said, “Seven hundred miles between us will surely let us know” What I already know (Chorus) Now are you missing me as much as I am missing you Do you call out my name when he does the things that I used to do Oh, baby say you do (Chorus)
6.
You wake up in the morning Tear stains in your eyes Struggling so desperately With the child inside Clouds on the horizon There’s no-one by your side Then the rain falls all around And you realize (Chorus) Nowhere to go now Ain’t no place to hide Nowhere to go now No-one by your side Nowhere to go now Just so alone Shadows in the nighttime They keep you company When those memories come around To haunt you once again Time for resolution Of the things that you can’t see In a world where things aren’t always What they seem to be (Chorus) (Bridge) And you can’t walk away And you can’t walk away And you can’t walk away, walk away, walk away Walk away from me (Chorus)
7.
The mill’s shut down three months they say It may be more but anyway We’re out of luck they’ll be no pay Now…how about the eats Vacations are all very nice They add to life a little spice But when you haven’t got the price It’s … quite another tale The family needs this and that A pair of shoes, a shirt, a hat We’ve not enough to feed a cat And … how about the rent But we’ll pull through somehow no doubt No use our misery to spout And should the landlord throw us out We’ll … camp upon the street (Chorus) Welcome to the shutdown Welcome to the shutdown Welcome to the shutdown Thank God the company’s alright The dividend is safe and tight The stockholder can sleep at night Tho’ … we feel rather blue God feeds the little bumble bees The birds that flit among the trees The flies, mosquitoes and the fleas And we … well we can starve (Chorus) Now charity will do its part Soup kitchens will be on the mart And when the mills again do start We’ll … have our load of debts So they’ve shut down, they might as well They’ve been curtailing quite a spell It seems the country’s going to hell Small loss … then we’ll go to (Chorus)
8.
As you crawl through this disease Trying to solve the mysteries But nobody knows, nobody cares Nobody sees, nobody’s aware (Chorus) When the world outside changes from white to black And it’s then you realize that there’s no turning back You’re all alone in the city and that’s not where it’s at You’re all alone in the city and that’s not where it’s at, no And as you stare into their eyes Trying to see through their disguise But nobody talks, nobody feels Nobody thinks, and nobody’s real (Chorus) You try to live your fantasy But still you’re stuck in reality And there’s nobody there, there’s nobody there There’s nobody there, no there’s nobody there (Chorus) You’re all alone You’re all alone You’re all alone You’re all alone
9.
Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you, I wanna be your friend tonight And don’t be alarmed by the things I say and do And don’t be afraid, I won’t desert you I’m gonna keep us warm tonight And feel your charms like a river running through (Chorus) Cause when those lights go out and we’re left all alone in this world I want to hold on to you girl So don’t be afraid, I’m right here beside you I’m gonna get us through this night So just close you eyes and won’t you let me lead the way And don’t be afraid, they’ll never hurt you While I’m holding you so tight And realize that there’s nothing more to say (Chorus) Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you, I wanna be your friend tonight And don’t be alarmed by the things I say and do And don’t be afraid, I won’t desert you I’m gonna keep us warm tonight And feel your charms like a river running through (Chorus)

She says, There's something there, something that you can’t hide There ain’t no sense in trying cause I can see it in your eyes" She says, "I know what I want, and what I want I always find And then I make it mine All mine, all mine She says, Just shut your mouth, I can see right through your lies There ain’t no sense in hiding behind that worn out disguise Cause I know what I want, and what I want I always find And then I make it mine All mine, all mine (Bridge) So just forget about that, that macho posturing Cause you know it won’t get you anything She says, There's something there, something that you can’t hide And you know I’m going to get it, if it takes ‘til the day I die Cause I know what I want, and what I want I always find And then I make it mine All mine, all mine

about

About the Album:

I recently discovered a box of tapes in my basement that contained recordings from the 1990s made by my two bands in New York City during that decade: Spyder Jones and Bad Fish Karma. This album is a compilation of songs taken from those tapes and from recordings in the 2000s made by my band The Misfit Boys. Nine of the songs on the album were recorded in the studio while the final song was recorded live at CBGBs in New York City in May 1995. Ultimately, this album is an anthology of my music performed with three different bands over a 20-year period.
